☁ Another shelf cloud timelapse from today's storm activity. This video comes from Bay City as a strong thunderstorm slid east around 7 PM EDT this evening (7/5/24). The eerie, tendril-like appearance of a shelf cloud is due to cooler air pushing ahead of a storm and then lifting warmer air ahead of it like a wedge. The warm air rides up over the cooler air and then condenses as a cloud. You're essentially seeing cloud formation in the coolest way possible. 🙂 | Great Lakes Weather & Climate
