This tutorial will show you how to add or remove the WindowsSecuritynotificationicon on the taskbar for your account or all users in Windows 11. WindowsSecurity is built-in to Windows 11 and includes an antivirus program called Microsoft Defender Antivirus.
The WindowsSecurity app in the taskbar system tray helps you quickly open the WindowsSecurity app, begin a scan, check for protection updates, view notification options and access the security dashboard. If the WindowsSecurity app is missing from the taskbar or system tray, try the following solutions to restore it.
As a Windows operating system user, you’ve likely encountered the WindowsSecurityNotificationIcon—a small icon in the system tray that provides important information about your PC’s security status. But have you ever paused to consider—do you really need this icon on startup?
Right-click Start, click Run, type the following file name, and click OK. The “WindowsSecurity” icon should now appear in the notification area. You can create a shortcut to that program and place it in your Startup folder.
Click Personalization > Taskbar > Select which icons appear on the taskbar. Now, use the toggle in front of the WindowsSecuritynotificationicon to hide or show its icon.
Right-click on the Taskbar and select the Taskbar Settings option. Under the Notification area, select which icons appear on the taskbar if you are using Windows 10. Or, Open Other system tray settings section if you are using Windows 11. Now enable the WindowsSecurityNotificationIcon toggle.
